Service Description
Sarsen stones have been taken from the Valley of Stones and used by people to build, from prehistoric monuments to modern roads. We are going to record all the sarsens stones left in the Valley of Stones and we need your help! This workshop will teach you all you need to know to join in with this project. It will consist of 2 talks. The first will explain the background behind the project, and the second will teach you how to identify sarsen stones and how to understand any markings on them. We will also teach you how to record them so that they can be entered into our project database and compared to the other stones. This will help us understand how the Valley of Stone has been used by people throughout time. No prior experience is required, just a willingness to explore the landscape.
