Living Amongst the Sarsens: An Update

This service is not available, please contact for more information.

Event Description

Past Participate have been busy investigating the archaeology of the Valley of Stones National Nature Reserve and its surrounding landscape. This talk will focus on the spectacular sarsen stones within the Valley of Stones itself. Volunteers have been recording every sarsen stone in the nature reserve. The dataset this has created can tell us much about how the stones, and the landscape, have been used by people throughout time. From being used as prehistoric field boundaries to modern curb stones, they have always been a valuable resource to the people who have lived and worked in the Valley of Stones. We will also introduce you to Ollie Cameron (artist) and Genevieve Carver (author and poet) who will be running some exciting workshops in the autumn, another way to get involved and experience the fabulous Valley of Stones landscape. This talk is part of our National Heritage Lottery Funded project Living Amongst the Sarsens. We ask for donations to book our events however, if you email hayley@pastparticipate.co.uk to book your place, the donation requirement will be bypassed. Donations are used to reduce costs at events like these and contribute towards the research process.

Cancellation Policy

Many of our events are designed for relatively small groups to enable people to hear and interact. Consequently, late cancellations have a significant impact upon the number of people who are able to engage with the archaeology of the Valley of Stones. If you need to cancel please give as much notice as possible. We do not refund donations unless requested. If you provide us with less than 24hours notice we cannot refund any donations given when booking. Please email info@pastparticipate.co.uk with any cancellations
